A silly question maybe but still - Are you first clicking on the widget or typing directly? There's a difference (which should be really apparent). Any custom settings you have done which might be related? Last, Just make sure you are using the latest version of plasmoid with the mentioned version of qmltermwidget.

Also, share your distro, kde versions and other details. If possible, I will try to replicate it.

I don't think any question is silly. I am trying to first focus the widget and then but when ever I press any key, my focus is shifted to desktop search. I am using Kubuntu 18.04. I am using latest version of plasmoid. I am not sure how can I check the version QMLTermWidget
