Login problem "To protect your account, logging in to WeChat via the web has been suspended" #3

koma-private commented 6 years ago

Some users report they cannot proceed to WeChat service after scanning QR code for authentication. Instead of displaying the main UI, WeChat will prompt user to choose alternate method to login by showing a message "To protect your account, logging in to WeChat via the web has been suspended. Use WeChat for Windows or WeChat for Mac to log in on a computer. Download WeChat for Windows or Mac at http://wechat.com."

I found a thread on this message (https://www.v2ex.com/t/435567) They are suggesting, this message will be shown if an user account is too new or considered as a robot (by mistake.)

@koma-private The same question with you. Have you solved it?

SwingTreeCactus commented 5 years ago

I also have this problem. It's very strange. I've had my WeChat account for years with no issues. I previously was using Deepin OS which is a Chinese distro. Desktop Linux version of WeChat worked pretty well. I recently switched to Ubuntu, and this is the only version of WeChat I can find, and it gives me the same error described above. I remember trying it in a live boot of Ubuntu a while back and same problem. Switched back to Deepin, and no issues. Now I only have Ubuntu and it won't work for me.

demib72 commented 5 years ago

It is a wechat issue. When you try to use Wechat web from their own website, it will say the same thing. My Chinese friend is able to make use of it just fine. Which makes me think it might be something specfically aimed at foreigners.

Deepin OS looks to be a Debian based distro. So if wechat has a Linux version for that it, it should work with Ubuntu.

SwingTreeCactus commented 5 years ago

I downloaded it directly from the Deepin Store at the time. I figured it should work on Ubuntu as well if I could find it, but when I google it, the only thing that comes up is the version we've been talking about. I'll try googling for the Deepin version and see if I can find it. I'll report back on what happens.

I don't think it's about nationality. I'm Chinese and I used it just fine. But recently it just stops working, which is very strange.

Reviving this thread to see if any resolution

kych commented 3 years ago

i don't think it's related to nationality. My secondary WeChat account has this annoying issue as well and I am Chinese.

johnmwu commented 3 years ago

edupulpillo commented 3 years ago

Has anyone found a solution??

wshawn2020 commented 2 years ago

Same issue as well on ubuntu 20.

edupulpillo commented 2 years ago

The problem reesides in wechat service policy and not in any app. I do not know how is possible to ask Tencent to restablish the previous status

kc14s commented 2 years ago

Same problem here.

If anyone knows how to contact tencent support, to claim to open the webaccess again, will be very welcome.
