Make compatible with java>1.8 #88

with java>1.8 some tests are failing - seems to have to do with resource loading

Hey, my build is failing most likely because of the same issue. 

Could not resolve all files for configuration ':app:debugRuntimeClasspath'.

This is in the logs, would it be possible for you to suggest some workaround? I am using gradle 6.5.
