Questions: Should we include 'City_of_Cape_Town_Metropolitan_Municipality' ?

Here are a few odd URLS that I found:

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/gauteng/city-of-johannesburg/city-of-johannesburg-2/ Two mentions of JHB

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/ Why are there two mentions of Cape Town?

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/cape-town/ This is wrong.

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/cape-town-2/ This looks like the Cape Town metropolitan area.

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/cape-metro/ What is this area?

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/cape-town-metro-rural/ Not sure about this?

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/city-of-cape-town-3/ What is this?

http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/city-of-cape-town-2/cape-town/

Next steps: Run a set of 3 small tests This will involve making three small shape files from South Africa and testing the import script. We need to be certain that it imports the data as we expect.

Test 1) Suburb: Scarborough Expected URL: http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/south-peninsula/scarborough

Questions addressed in order:

No, we should not include 'City_of_Cape_Town_Metropolitan_Municipality'. We can't manually include or exclude URLs, since they derive from the data, which we cannot edit because it is official data (and therefore, editing it will damage its accuracy).

The only subdivision of the Johannesburg municipality is itself. Therefore, you would find all regions within Johannesburg under the URL "http://www.konekta.info/south-africa/gauteng/city-of-johannesburg/city-of-johannesburg-2/". The same goes for Cape Town. This is because the URL (in the case of South Africa) is structured as follows: "http://staging.konekta.info/country/province/district-municipality/local-municipality/town/suburb/". Therefore, if a municipality is both a District and Local municipality (as is the case for important municipalities like Joburg and CPT), there will be duplicate names in the URL.

Re: the other random URLs you found, I don't know what they are. We need to be sure to clear the database of all existing South African data before loading the new dataset, otherwise we will get duplicate values like this. Pier will need to take a look at that.

"Next steps": please create a separate ticket for that.

Re: the URL http://staging.konekta.info/south-africa/western-cape/city-of-cape-town/south-peninsula/ (and all URLs underneath it). This URL does not exist. There is no object in the Census data called "South Peninsula."

Please _do not use Wikipedia_ as a source. I don't know what Wikipedia thinks the administrative divisions of South Africa look like, nor is it relevant to this ticket or any situation that we may conceivably encounter during the rest of the duration of this project. Please look at and refer only to the official Census data, which I uploaded on Google Drive and shared with all participants.
