Disconnect on move to background except on first setup of connection #424

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. create a NEW connection to an arbitary server not used/saved before.
2. establish the connection / login etc.
3. switch to home screen (the connection is kept)
4. switch to connectbot and disconnect the active connection
5. reconnect to that connection
6. switch to homescreen

now you get the vibration bell and the symbol in the statusbar of the
connection disapears. a further check shows the connection has been canceled.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the connection should be persistent

What version of the product are you using (you can see this by using Menu
-> About in the Host List)?
1. ConnectBot-git-2010-12-18_00-56-32.apk
2. current market version (sorry, can't tell what version it is. where exactly
in the menu is it to be find?)

What type of system are you trying to connect to?
ubuntu 10.10

If you are able to connect, what is the output of "echo $TERM", "uname -a",
and any other relevant information on the host?
$TERM is xterm-color (i changed it, but same behaviour with default settings!)

Linux htpc 2.6.38-rc3-htpc01 #1 SMP Wed Feb 2 16:19:51 CET 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux
it's selfcompiled kernel, but here again, same behaviour with ubuntus default
kernel

Please provide any additional information below.
summary in words:
it cannot keep connections when i move connectbot into background. this works
only one time when i first time set up a connection. sometimes it helps to
delete the connection entry and than start again. but this does not work
reliable.

i have no taskmanager installed or similar, at least none that i know of.

here a logout put with help of quickinfo (log for connectbot)

This seems to be occurring when you simply switch tasks for a moment on Jelly
Bean with Nexus 7. It closes my connection the moment I change to ANY other
view.

Also in ICS 4.0.4 (Galaxy Nexus I9250), pressing the home button causes
disconnection, and the connectbot application terminates.

Confirm, there is no background running support

I see this problem under Android 4.3. This is a show-stopper, as i need the
port forwarding to run while i switch to a browser. How is such a critical bug
two years old and not fixed?

I still see this problem with 1.7.1 and Android 2.3.6 on a Samsung Galaxy Ace,
but you could circumvent it by returning to the first menu of the program with
"return" button (furthermost to the right on this phone) and then pressing the
middle button / home button - only on this case the application is not closed
down,
apparently. Application otherwise works excellently for tunneing with Android
VNC Viewer.

The solution in my case was to uninstall VX ConnectBot. Having both installed
seemed to cause a problem for Android and neither of them was able to stay
running on background.
