There is no way to create a DLL version of gtest which would help in 
resolving issues with putting tests in a DLL separate from main.

Ideally, there should also be msvc project and solution files for a DLL 
version of gtest.

Looks like you are referring to Issue 214 but that fix seems to be missing 
changes to 
msvc projects.  Are the msvc projects going to still be supported or is gtest 
moving to 
some other tool to build on Windows?

The existing msvc projects will still be provided for convenience, but we are
switching to cmake, which is much more flexible and easier to maintain.
