Periodic update not working #59

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Turn on auto-update
2. Change the status of a Hudson job
3. Table is not updated on schedule

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Table is updated on schedule

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.9

It also doesn't start the periodic updates until the preferences have been 
changed.
I think this patch solves the problem.
