Issue with handling umlaut-Characters (special characters) #175

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use a working copy checked out with tortoise SVN
this repository contains filenames or path names with umlauts "ä,ö,ü, ß, etc."
(the same happens if I checkout the repository directly with SVNX)

2. everything which has somewhere in the name an umlaut is flagged as
       - not present & missing
       - it seems it is not able to establish the correspondance between the checkout
         version and the file version
As a result everything with such a name would be dublicated upon add

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
upon update the working copy should be flagged as clean, instead I get an
enormously
 long error list.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Version 1.3.3 on updated version of Lion, as of 24.6.12

Please provide any additional information below.
the initial repository was created under windows with tortoise

Also see Issue 152 for a possible workaround.

Thanks, for pointing me to the workaround. - and in general: thank you all for
the very fast replies.

I looked through the workaround information, but it seems, it requires a
specially patched version of svn. This goes beyond what I am willing to do.
(I have another workaround: Windows on Bootcamp runs on my Mac under parallels.
I use parallels and do my repository checkins and -outs using Tortoise over
there. Works nicely, even using the Mac volume as target.)
