VLC is missing a lot of letters #140

I am using a 0.9.1 with default settings, and VLC is missing a lot of letters 
all over its interface. Should be easy to recreate, I am using vlc 1.1.4 which 
is the latest.

I got the same issue with VLC version 1.1.7. The letter "l" (small L) is 
missing everywhere in the menues. I see the big L's but the small L's is not 
showing, just empty space.

in settings, try setting renderer to 20. Kerning is still not perfect, but this 
fixed all instances of missing letters for me.

It seems that using "Segoe UI" font in all QT applications will have the 
problem. Change the system menu font to some other may solve the problem.
