Needs more work:

tests
correct rounding behavior
integer overflow handling

@kosma @cmorganBE Thank for your remarks, however it's been 2 years since I have submitted this and therefore I don't want to spend time on it anymore. If anyone want this feature merged, please fell free to make the requested changes.
