Final production code #38

This PR should be merged on the day of the release, i.e Sunday.

With the launch of the site around, it's time to clean up the codebase, fix the code smells (or create a workaround for the time being) and document the code (especially app.py and the README).
Feel free to work on this branch.

Someone will have to do

git rm -rf .DS_Store

in the repository for git to stop tracking the files that have been added.
