Requesting 100 kETH #553

I am student organization officer for the Investment Club at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, and I am currently attempting to come up with activities for the club members to participate in. I believe that using the Kovan test-net to give short lessons in interacting with smart contracts and decentralized applications would be a great learning experience for the club members and would serve to demystify cryptocurrency at the university.

Using the 100 kETH that I am requesting I hope to achieve the following:

  1. Create a private faucet for distributing 1 kETH to each club member. I would like to give each member 1 kETH to demonstrate the value of an Ether and to give club members enough currency to freely interact with the network without worrying too heavily about gas fees.
  2. Deploy an ERC-20 token for the club, to create a sense of novelty for the members and to demonstrate that EVM compatible chains can be used for small scale projects.
  3. Implement functionality in the ERC-20 token contract that would allow for redemption codes to be generated and given to the club members that can be used to receive a set amount of tokens per redemption code. This would allow the club to distribute tokens in physical envelopes, which may help to keep club members engaged in the activity. The gas fees necessary to use such functionality would be very heavy, which is one of the reasons why I hope to give each member 1 kETH.
  4. Deploy an ERC-721 NFT contract that would allow club members to make predictions about the price action of stocks and ETFs, and mint these predictions as NFTs on the test-net.
  5. Implement functionality in the ERC-721 NFT contract that would allow club members to bet for or against the prediction NFTs using the previously mentioned ERC-20 token as a currency. Implementation of this functionality could be done in a decentralized manner by using the Chainlink oracle network to access equity prices. As there are equity price oracles on the Kovan test-net I would be especially happy to use this test-net for the project.

I expect there to be under 100 members who participate in the activity that I have planned, so 100 kETH should be more than enough to deploy the necessary smart contracts and to give each student the planned 1 kETH. Thank you for your time.
