16.7.1 - Black Screen with Amcodec Enabled

Hi,

I am often experiencing an issue when playing videos in SPMC that the screen turns black and i can only hear audio. I can however just see the outline of the video around the edges of the TV screen but its like a big black box has been placed over the whole screen obstructing the video.

To resolve i then close SPMC and reopen and the videos then play fine. Occasionally however also the video will play fine but then during playback the video suddenly turns black and i can only hear the audio causing me to have to close SPMC and reopen.

I only have Amcodec enabled as i find most of the videos i watch with mediacodec enabled are not smooth, when i only choose Amcodec when they do play correctly the video is quite smooth.

I am at work now so don't have access right now to the logs but i recall errors appearing relating to SetInt cannot access /Sys/Class/Video/brightness and SetInt cannot access /Sys/Class/Video/contrast

Has anyone else experienced this issue? It also occurs in Kodi in addition to SPMC.

The box i am using is a Yoka TV KB2 Pro - S912 chip, 3GB DDR4 RAM

Would the errors i mentioned above cause a black screen issue? as mentioned its like a big black box is placed over the screen and around the edges of the tv screen you can just faintly see the video.

I have the same behavior but in my case is a AML S812 with Lolipop version. Theres is another issue reported with same problem since SPMC 16.5.1.

Ok no worries, i think i might give the SPMC 16.5 version a try.

@shauno100 Hey buddy how is 16.5 working for you? Does black screen come up when using amcodec?

@vader913 i tried 16.5 but had the random crashes where Kodi would exit. Tried 16.5.1 instead which resolves that issue but i also have not had the black screen problem which is great. Give 16.5.1 a try.
