2017 Nvidia Shield SMB Mount Error 2 #1045

Hello everyone,

I have scoured and scoured the web in search of figuring out my issues of not being able to connect to an SMB mount from SPMC on a 2017 Nvidia Shield.

I have seen the help guides saying to directly connect to the IP instead of through the SMB mount option and put :445 after the IP and the appropriate username and password and it still does not work.

The one thing that might be an issue that I'm not fully understanding is I recently changed my internet from Charter to AT&T Gigapower or whatever they call it, so now I have to use their Modem/Router instead of my own modem. I have the PC and Shield connected to an Airport Extreme via ethernet and then AT&T's modem is pumping internet to the Extreme.

I've been reading a lot about NETBIOS on AT&T modem and blocking port 445 which SPMC needs, if I'm gathering all my information correctly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and just let me know if any further information is needed.

Thanks!

I use a Mac as a server and I had to hit my head countless days to finally make SMB working. What I did has been to add a network resource in the form "smb://192.168.1.2" (where 192.168.1.2 is the local IP address of my Mac) manually selecting the protocol SMB and then add the shares browsing from there.

Going straight into Windows Shares (SMB) - I am not sure how it is in English - I get the same error you get.

Since upgrading from RC9, on my NVIDIA Shield, I also can no longer connect to a USB drive mounted on my DD-WRT router. About a week ago I spent a few hours looking research and trying different setting to no avail, but now I'm facing a larger issue with my Shield no longer connecting via Ethernet, so the SMB share has taken a back seat.

Kudos @koying , as I have to say that I've been using this 17.4RC as an everyday driver since v6 and this is the first issue I've encountered. It may be a config issue on my end, but I simply installed 10 over 9 like I did in previous upgrades. I'll produce logs once I get my Ethernet issue resolved, but want to at least comment on this thread when I noticed it, and especially as the first SMB mount thread was deemed a user config issue.

Regards, Janx
