Amcodec Option not showing on SPMC 16.6.0 #1047

Hello again!

I'm using SPMC 16.6.0 with a Mi Box 3 and, if I'm not wrong, since the CPU is an Amlogic S905x, an AmCodec acceleration should be appearing on the Acceleration menu. However, only the MediaCodec options are showing.

I guess I'm missing something :\

Well, I've read a post by Koying from another forum...

The mibox (out-of-the-box) doesn't have the proper permissions for amcodec.

I'm quite dissapointed. This means the Mi Box is actually running without using its full potential? :\

you must looking another firmware (mod) for your box. google it !

Unfortunately. I own a Mi Box 3 International with locked bootloader, so no external firmware can be installed in the box :\

I think we won't see anything on this until the Mi Box is rooted :\

There was a thread on xda awhile back where they started to get progress, but this was 6 months ago. Guessing since we haven't heard then it hasn't got any farther.

If I remember correctly, the Mi Box can actually be rooted, but the bootloader is still locked, so this is a very, very tedious process...
