6 years ago I also have experienced similar Start & Stop / jerky video behavior on my NVIDIA Shield over the last few builds, with HAD HomeRun any only PVR Client.
Using SPMC 17.6a2, but this seemed to manifest in the last few 17.4rc versions.
Repeating log error correlating to the event: DEBUG: Output Picture dropped in output WARNING: CRenderMaanger::WaitForBuffer - time out waiting for a buffer ERROR:GL: BaseYUV2RGBGLSLShader - unsupported format 15 ERROR: ActiveAE DSP - CreateDSPs - Creation of processing class failed ERROR: ActiveAE DSP - Create - DSP input convert failed

Perhaps it is simply an issue on this hardware?
