4K 50/60hz modes not detected by SPMC but detected by Kodi 18 #1134

Hi

4K 50/60hz modes are not detected by SPMC but detected by Kodi 18. Please see attached logs.

These 2 modes are missing in SPMC for me 3840 x 2160 for display 0 with 3840 x 2160 @ 60.000004 Hz 3840 x 2160 for display 0 with 3840 x 2160 @ 50.000000 Hz That is why 3840x2160@60hz videos fall back to 1080p@60hz since it is the only resolution with a 60hz frame-rate.

Anyway to find the cause and a solution?

Strange... Looks more like a bug in Kodi, really, as SPMC properly uses the mode api, and no 2160p60 or 2160p50 are reported by the api...

I assume the box and/or the TV is only HDMI 1.4, so limited to 2160p30?

Ah, looks like DEBUG mode was not enabled on the Kodi one, which confused me. Could you repost a Kodi log in DEBUG, please

I am using a HDMI 2.0 cable with a HDMI 2.0 port with a Android devices capable of 4K@60hz.

Unfortunately it's very difficult to test Kodi 18 @4K resolutions since the mouse pointer is misaligned, the auto frame-rate is wonky and the 1080p GUI limit(needed for me because of the 1080p framebuffer limit on my device, video has a separate 4K layer) that is working in SPMC are all broken in Kodi 18 since Krypton 17.1 a few months ago. I also tested RKMC and 4K@60hz was working in all the videos so there is definitely no limitation for 4K@60hz on any equipment.

Hope you can solve it.

Meh... I don't get why different modes are reported on Kodi and SPMC...

I upgraded my firmware, now I see HDR is working in Kodi 18 with Mediacodec but in SPMC HDR videos just don't play or do anything when you open them in SPMC 17.6a2. Seems users with Amlogic devices have a similar problem in the other 'issues' and say in older SPMC versions it worked. Can you also look at this problem perhaps?

Since Kodi is Leila based and SPMC Krypton based, I couldn't compare the code to find commits that might help with the resolution detection, the code changed too much :(
