Question: Change the app icon #232

@Frotz1 already ask for that in his issue #215 but I create a new post because I made some material design icons for SPMC :) It's possible to change the color to something more blue (like current icons) but I want to follow Google material guidelines (you can find the color palette here https://www.google.com/design/spec/style/color.html#)

So here are my new icons: Android icon: spmc-illustrator-2

Android TV icon: spmc-banner

Splash screen: spmc-splash

@koying : if you are interested by these icons you can use them (just put my name somewhere please :) ) and if you need more icons or if you want some modification don't hesitate to tell it to me ;)

@Kant73 Awsome Icons. Hope koying will use them in the next version of SPMC. Will those Icons work on the Fire TV too, so we don't get a blurred Icon as it is right now?

+1, the pixelated icon looks really bad on Android (actually Fire) TV w/ 1080p. I prefer the old icon's style though as the proposed one by @Kant73 is pretty "basic". Maybe you can freshen up the old icon's "more special" style with some materialism and more pixels?

My goal was to introduce material design with my icons and it's really difficult to "materialize" current icons (really too different from material design guidelines) I will try to "materialize" current icons if I find more times to do that but it will be difficult so I can't promise anything ;)

Maybe just attach a version with that blue from the current Icon. Then maxbe it will fit to koyings taste so he will consider it :) I would already be happy to not have a blurred one :)

But even without an Icon, reading the commits made by koying made me super happy, considering wht all is fixed and added :) It seems like yadif deinterlacing is there as well as propper refresh rate recognition on AFTV1&2, so those without refresh rate changing can adjust video to display and have a smooth playback :)

Of course, with such a new release comming a new Icon would make it perfect :)

Here are the blueish icons (and a grey one) following material design color guidelines ;) I made only the main icons but it's of course possible to do the same for the other icons ;) spmc-illustrator-blue spmc-illustrator-blue-2 spmc-illustrator-blue-3 spmc-illustrator-grey spmc-illustrator-indigo

Thanks for your efforts but if this is the "new" trend and the current one looks "old", I'm afraid I'm an old-fashioned guy ;)

@koying Is there a way that you could offer alternative icons for the Shield TV? I'm fine with it but it doesn't pass the wife test. She loves the new Kodi icon so I promised her I would ask. Is changing the banner as easy as changing the /media/banner.jpg?

To use a different icon in the leanback launcher, Use this website: http://atvlauncher.trekgonewild.de/index.php

You can create your own small APK with custom name, icon and banner and make it open the app you specify. It's just like a shortcut in Windows ;)
