Audio delay when using passthrough with PVR (tvheadend) #347

Hello,

sometimes I get really bad audio delay when watching live television using the Tvheadend HTSP Client. Most of the time this only happens on specific channels (ZDF HD, Nat Geo Wild HD). I get a delay of about 5 - 10 seconds, which is basically unwatchable. Watching in PCM-mode works perfectly fine.

I'm using a Nvidia Shield TV with the newest stable SPMC version 16.3.0. My backend is an Odroid C2 with a pretty new version of Tvheadend. I don't see (hear) any delay when using my full-blown HTPC with LibreElec using the same backend.

Which logs and / or other information can I provide?

Edit 1: Audio seems to drift away when f.e. one show ends and another show starts. Possibly also with a short break in between where the A/V receiver displays "Stereo" instead of "Dolby Digital". Both shows are h264 / ac3 encoded.

Same issue here but with different channels (AC3D passthrough seems ok but mpeg2-audio is drifting out of sync). Passthrough is working sometimes, turning it off fixes the issues. However that's not preferable.

Using the same setup (Nvidia shield tv and spmc 16.3) but the enigma2 pvr plugin instead of tvheadend.

Hello, i have also the same issue. I use the nvidia shield with spmc and tvheadend as backend. Passthrough with the recommended settings is activated. A normal movie work perfect with passthrough but with live tv the audio drift away. If i disable passthrough i can watch live tv without problems. My AV reciver is a Yamaha rx-v479.

Same problem. Pause live TV brings audio and video back sync. After some time it drifts away again. Shield 16GB Spmc 16.5 Tvheadend server 4.0

Just to support, same issue here: Shield 16GB (2017 model) SPMC 16.5-5 TVHeaded server 4.0.9-16 Passthrough is enabled. When I start watching it starts fine, but it quickly drifts away.

When I disable passthrough audio is fully in-sync. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help fixing this problem.
