amlogic s912 crash #491

if this question is repeated please forgive me. with android 6.0 and the amlogic chip it keeps crashing kodi 16 (not 17) and spmc. is this an easy fix? can it be fixed? is it the media player or is it something the manufacture has to address?or should just avoid the amlogic s912 ?

It is probably a firmware issue the manufacturer has to fix. If you bought from no name manufacturer it's going to be nearly impossible to get a firmware update. Amlogic is still using tablet Marshmallow firmware which cause all sorts of problems with SPMC like the skin resetting to a touch skin frequently. Also on Kodi forums they tell to avoid any S912 as they are worse than S905.

Try to disable Amcodec in system > video > acceleration, it fixed SPMC crash after stop playing issue for me.

After it a SPMC doesn't use hardware video acceleration. Video gets jerky. It is not a good solution.
