I recently purchased a Beelink MiniMX III (2G/8G) which is an inexpensive Amlogic S905-based box. It is running Android 5.1.1. Over on the Kodi forums, wrxtasy suggested that I try SPMC because it could probably play my (interlaced/MPEG2) DVD ISO rips, whereas he said that might be problematic with straight Kodi (under Android). So I loaded the SPMC that's in the Google Play Store now (16.4-2, from August, apparently) and it works great for playing the interlaced/MPEG2 DVD ISOs, -however- when I tried to enable audio pass through, I found two options only (IEC and RAW) with no explanation for what either was, really. So I tried each one in turn. In both cases, playback of one sample DVD ISO got no audio output and the Beelink box actually locked up and become entirely unresponsive (requiring a power cycle to get it back) after playing for just a few seconds. (Note that the Beelink box was/is wired into my Sony STR-DH520 A/V receiver, which can decode just about any kind of audio. Connection was via HDMI.)
which suggests how to configure SPMC for passthrough (on a Shield) but it was somewhat unhelpful because I could not even find a way to get into "expert" settings mode on the version of SPMC that I got from the PlayStore, even though I -do- know how to do this on regular Kodi. (Is the "expert" settings mode even available in the SPMC that is currently available in the PlayStore?)
which says that Amlogic & Fire TV (I've just ordered one of these also) "might be getting some love", but no indication of -when- that might happen.
So, just wondering if I have a snowball's chance in hell of seeing SPMC with working audio passthough for either Amlogic S905 boxen and/or Fire TV anytime in the forseeable future. Except for that one missing part, SPMC seems to be excellent, for my purposes anyway.

I found the folliowing page: https://github.com/koying/SPMC/wiki/Recommended-passthrough-audio-settings-for-SPMC,-NVIDIA-Shield-TV-and-AV-Receivers

I also have found the following: http://spmc.semperpax.com/
