I can confirm new update 5.0 has amazon video 4k and android 7.0
@Koying: Thanks to add this to 16.6.0 roadmap.
Shield TV is the gift that keeps on giving! :D
Nvidia support for this product is amazing, other brands never bother to update devices software and prefer to sell a new product with tiny hardware difference to justify the new features and laugh at their own customers.
Picture in picture would be a great addition.
This is all I care about, spmc with pip. Forget everything else
Harder to get right than I initially though...
Damn lol, well i hope all goes well and its not too much of a headache
Sorry to bump this if there's not any headway, was just wondering if this is still on the way at any point? Also are the next releases gonna fix the not being able to launch android apps from spmc in the recent updates past 16.6
SPMC17 has both...
SPMC 16.8 should fix android app, doesn't it?
I have installed spmc 17 and can confirm the android apps launch fine, thank you for this. How do I use spmc with pip? Also is there a launcher version available for spmc 17 as I use this as my launcher and usually have lean back disabled by default
PIP works in SPMC17. It does assume that once invoked that you will press the HOME button, which is a problem with the current Logitech Harmony keymapping (in Leanback Launcher, outside of Kodi). I need to dig deeper to figure out how to solve this...
I use shield TV, how do I activate it? is there a setting I need to turn on or do I find some in live channels app as a source?? I'm not sure

I have a Harmony and a Shield. Here's how it works for me:
When a video is playing, long press the exit button. The video will continue to play PIP and Leanback Launcher will appear. To return, there isn't a Home button to double-press but you can select the recommendation thumbnail in LB Launcher.
I only have Nvidia shield controller 2015, (WiFi direct), do you know what I use to do this on that control?

FWIW, the mapping action is "PictureInPicture"
Sorry again, but is there some sort of guide for setting this up? Do I use keypad.xml or joystick

I still have no clue...
The Shield TV will be getting Android TV Nougat (v7) update soon. Can Picture-in-Picture supported be added to SPMC?
