FireTV surround #854

I switched from Kodi because I wasn't getting pass through to work and SPMC isn't working either. My receiver is a Sony STR-DA5400ES and I'm on 16.6-0 with the recommended settings. Any suggestions, or is it the receiver?

Both Kodi and SPMC have no issues with Surround. Both work great for me in my home theater setup. Most of the movies I watch are all HD audio (Dolby Digital and/or DTS)

Considering that both Kodi and SPMC aren't working for you, what you have it's probably a setting and/or AVR setup.

Keep in mind that SPMC settings isn't the only thing to consider. You also have:

  1. Amazon Fire TV's audio options (found in Amazon settings)
  2. SPMC passthrough enabled (System -> Settings -> System -> Audio output)
  3. Sony AVR receiver passthrough settings enabled

Thanks, Newbie, glad it's working for you. Kodi does indeed have issues with the FireTV and Firestick passing surround - it's well documented. I'm aware of all the settings - been there. I suspect it's the receiver since SPMC isn't working either. But I'm hoping for more ideas here.
