4K Mkv HDR with 4:2:2 color sampling : Only audio and Black Screen #867

Hi guys, I tried to play a movie, 4k hdr with 4:2:2 color sampling, and SPMC play only audio and subtitles, without video (only black screen). Only if I disable both acceleration codecs I see the movie, but obviously I see jerky.

I'm using last version of SPMC with a Nvidia Shield updated, and a LG B6 Oled. Already set also the right color sampling also in the shield setting, nothing change.

In a 4k Samsung TV the internal player can play this video instead...

Seconding this report. I'm trying to play an H264 720p video stream encoded using MPEG4 AVC1 (part 10 or something) with an image format described as "Planar 4:4:4 YUV 10bit" by VLC, and it won't decode on SPMC or Kodi.

Same issue, SPMC running on Nvidia Shield connected to LG B6 OLED - I get only audio and subtitles with a 4K HDR MP4 file with 4:2:2 color sampling. Any ideas? The B6 definitely supports 4:2:2 video

YUV 4:2:2 is HEVC profile 2. nVIDIA doesn't support hardware decoding for it. As a matter of fact, you won't find a single Android device that can decode it. If you use software decoding, these videos will play frame by frame. You will need a Intel/AMD CPU for decoding this. Chroma subsampling on the display is unrelated to this.
