solved: block artefacts in h264 files (FireTv2 and minix U1) #887

Hi,

i recognized in the last days, that some of my h264-mkv's having block-artefacts in spmc. The files are captured SAT-TV files in h264 1080i 25fps (german TV). The effect is sometimes more sometimes less visible - seems to depend from the file-content. Very strong is the effect sometimes on fireTV2 but even on the minix U1 are small artefacts visible sometimes. I tested some versions since SPMC 16.4.2 . The effects are always there and repoduceable. The effects becomes stronger in the SPMC 16.6.0 version compared to the older versions (16.5.5.).

On FireTV2 kodi 17.1 plays the same files without any artefacts and smooth. (SPMC and kodi with disabled HW-acceleration, enabled does not work with these files). On minix U1 the minixXbmc plays the files without issues as well .

Same problem here. Unusable on Fire TV Stick (2nd gen). Also happens in Kodi 16.x, fixed in 17.0. Any idea what causes this?

one additional notice: the MrMC mediacenter plays the mentioned files in perfect quality on fireTV2 as well. I think koying is deeper involved and knows more about the reasons why. Of course: in MrMC the HW-acceleration for interlaced video has to be disabled on FireTV2.

seems to be solved in SPMC 17 (tested with alpha3 on FireTV 2).
