KDE Plasma: no tray icon (Ubuntu 18.04) #510

I found this closed issue #297 referring to the same bug but unfortunately none of the solutions I've tried have helped. Tray icons work on dozens of other apps I use except for syncthing-gtk.

I've installed the following packages and none of them have helped me get the tray icon:

I'm running Ubuntu 18.10 (gnome desktop) and I also don't see a tray icon. Interestingly enough, there is a menu there in the tray, when I click the area where an icon should be. However, there is no actual icon there. I've opted to install another gnome shell monitoring tool for syncthing that basically interfaces with the daemon. But it's not as nicely integrated with this wrapper software.

I'm also having this issue with Manjaro & Gnome Desktop

I'm running Elementary 5.1 and I have no tray icon whatsoever (and no invisible icon with a menu either).

FWIW, in Manjaro if you disable and re-enable the system tray suddenly the icon comes back. Seems to stay there even after restarting 🤷

Having same issue in Fedora 32, installed syncthing-gtk through flatpak (which should contain all dependencies). The icon is just invisible, but clickable.
