This used to be a bug in Firefox, but seems to have been fixed (I don't know when) as it works fine with cut-n-paste in 63.0. Which browser did you use?
firefox-63.0.1
has this problem.
It only happens when you select beginning exactly from the first letter of example, or part of example's text. When the user selects a wiser part, this doesnt happen.
Just to keep an eye on this: the firefox bug is tracked at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1174452 .
This seems fixed on recent versions of firefox, closing.
When I copy/paste examples from the tutorial, like here https://cadabra.science/notebooks/beginners.html, they are copied without newlines.
This makes it more difficult to run examples than it could be.
