Different number of El Nino and La Nina years #2

Some differences in the number of El Nino events. Toms et al reports 337 total El Nino samples including both training and testing data. I have 410. I cannot figure out why this is different. I can only assume that I am doing something different than what they did, but cannot figure out what it is.

Independent check by someone else also gets 410 El Nino events.
