profile start does not line up with selected location in v 0.17.1

The fix for defect #290 makes the end point work again now, but the start point 
still seems to have a problem.  It is starting from a point wildly different 
than selected.  It looks like it's not finding the nearest point on the curve 
for the start.  It seems to find the nearest vertex to my rectangle to start.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I downloaded the 0.17.1 install and applied the changes to kurve_funcs.py and 
ocl_funcs.py.  I've tried but unfortunately I have not managed to figure out 
how to do my own compile.
