Hello, and thank you for contacting the library. You said you're working on finding grants for your 501(c)(3)-sponsored project, Futel, and you're hoping to branch out from arts-focused grants to social service-focused grants. I'm happy to help!

It sounds like your main objective is to find grant opportunities. Is that correct? You can use the library's Foundation Center Online Professional to find grantmaking organizations and grant opportunities. It's only available inside Multnomah County Libraries, either from the library's public computers, or on the library's wifi network, so you'll need to visit us in person to use it. It's a pretty powerful database, and it can be a bit complex to use! So, before you start, I suggest you visit the Candid Learning Network (Candid is the organization that hosts the Foundation Center Online Professional). They offer a variety of free, live online trainings -- including a training on using the Foundation Directory that is coming up on March 15th. Candid Learning Network also hosts self-paced trainings, videos, and other learning resources that you can use anytime.

If you feel ready to get started searching Foundation Center Online Professional on your own, great! If you'd like more support, you can contact Tara, the library's Small Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian, at taran@multco.us. She can make a 30-minute appointment with you to give you a guided tour and consult with you about your research strategies. Tara can meet with you in person at a library, or online via video call.
