Sure, the current mechanism for making the maps is completely opaque to me and if you had to quit doing it I would need to recruit someone to rebuild it without my help. So any new way of doing it that had good documentation and would be achievable by anyone with a normalish Linux box is okay with me.

For my own purposes, I maintain an editable mapof helium suppliers using uMap, an OpenStreetMap overlay.
uMap has a few advantages, including being able to build from a CSV and link to a repository. Since it takes geocoordinates, we could reduce the precision a few decimals so as not to reveal the exact locations. I believe this can solve the privacy issue.
We should be able to also do some aesthetic tweaks, such as inserting Stamen's Toner tileset so our maps are printable/copyable in b&w and adding phone icons.
Let me know what you think and whether I should put one together.

I made a map. I've limited the coordinates to 3 digits of precision, +/- 180 feet. See umapfutel.csv in the media/map folder for the list of sites.
I believe I can add other people as editors of this map if you log in to uMap using your Github username.

Can't seem to get the Stamen Toner tile set working in the custom background. Here is the list of tile sets: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tile_servers
Map updated with handwashing locations.

uMap broke github login so I created an updated map using my OpenStreetMap login. The previous map currently can't be deleted (until uMap restores github login)
