Touch Screen Response Lags #3

Open markcj62 opened 6 years ago

Using this add-on my screen lags, rendering the addon useless. I touch the screen and start drawing, little or nothing draws, perhaps it it picks up the last point of the line. I pick up my finger and start a new line elsewhere, but I get a line from where I lifted my finger to where I then placed it. The screen is so unresponsive that I cannot get the 3 control buttons to respond. I am using a new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and have Ubuntu installed. When I touch the screen elsewhere, the response is good. When I load in LibreOffice Draw, the ability to draw is good. It was working reasonably well in the previous version, but even there, some of these issues were apparent.

Hi there! Sorry for a loong delay. It would help narrowing down the culprit if you were able to provide a screencast, Anki version and the add-on version, please. Many thanks, Michał.

Hi - Thank you for getting back to me.

Anki version is 2.0.52

TouchScreen version 0.1

I use Touch Screen to practice my Japanese Kanji writing.

The problem is intermittent, but frequent, so in the attached video I started recording after the problem began (you can see how little I drew before the problem started).

You can see how the add on seems to have lost track of the start and end of strokes - that is, I lift my finger, place it elsewhere, and a line draws from where I lifted it to where I placed it. Then, sometimes it draws the next line normally, sometimes it only draws a line from where I placed my finger to where I lift it - not the curved path, but a straight line from starting point to end point.

In the video, I then clear the screen, which seems to reset and clear the problem, and I draw the characters - thus, the first part of the video, you see the result of my drawing with the problem in full force, and in the latter part of the video, you see the result of my drawing as it should be.

(n.b.: some of the problems I mentioned in the original report seem to be related to whether or not my power supply is connected. Oddly, with the power supply connected, the touch screen doesn't work well. Everything mentioned in this report happens with the power disconnected, and with the power disconnected, I have no other problems with my touch screen, including drawing characters in AnkiDroid run on an android emulator.)
