How to break a console application #37

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the console Alt+F1
2. Execute ping 127.0.0.1
3. Introduce Ctrl+C to stop the ping

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
There´s no way to stop the execution of a console application. The system
is not responding to Ctrl+C or Escape. There are very useful commands, e.g.
logcat, which will invalidate the console for ever (until you restart your
virtual machine).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
liveandroidv0.2.iso in VMWare

Please provide any additional information below.

Alt + F7 to get back to the GUI

That's not the idea. Alt+F7 is useful to go back to the graphical Android.
However, if
you want to execute another command in the console, it's not possible unless
you
restart the whole platform (if the previous console command does not end
immediatly as
the ping).
However, this is a very minor issue which can be discarded because it's not the
general purpose of this Android distribution to execute commands in the console.

just restart the system.

Come on, one should not have to restart the system just because live android
does not
recognize Ctrl + C (break). That is not very productive.

i think using the ping command should not require a system reboot to stop it.
Very
unproductive.
