The scale outside the drawing area using theXValueAxis of reportlab is a nice first step, but for a timeline it might be better to indicate the left part with BCE and the right part with CE. Like done with the LibreOffice versions prior. And no negative numbers.
And some finer indication would be nice. Maybe every 10 years?
A scale on the top part of the drawing is missing.
Some vertical lines could indicate centuries and decades (very fine, maybe dotted 0.3 wide?)
