State of ChainShape #96

When describing creating chain shapes, the current README.markdown states:

Edit: seems to be a problem with this, best to avoid chain shapes for now

What's the status of this issue? I cannot find any more information on this, and chain shapes seem to work well. Am I missing something, or is this statement outdated?
