I want to use the progress bar and open file features . . . #18

but even the sample accdb does not work without a Newsoft.json file. Can you help? Jim Faull

Just download and have the bin folder in your project root location. The bin folder has all the necessary dlls. Have you tried this?

I unzipped the Json110r2.zip and copied that Bin folder. Is that the right one?

The bin folder can be found here. https://github.com/krishKM/Modern-UI-Components-for-VBA/tree/master/samples/

Download and have the bin folder where you've placed the vba_tools.dll. vba_tools will look into the bin folder and find necessary dlls. Let me know if this has helped.

I try to browse and still get an exception error that it cannot see the Newsoft.Json file. I also want to capture the path of a file by putting it in an unbound text box. I guess it will do this.

Have you downloaded the bin folder from above link and placed where your access file is? The bin folder has json.dll. best to show us a screenshot of your folder.

We are out tomorrow to have Thanksgiving with my wife’s 93 year old mother. I could do anytime Saturday or Monday of next week. Did I notice you are in London?

Krish,

The good news is that the program runs fine on my Windows 10 computer, but the bad news is it does not work on my Windows 7 computer. Both are running Access 365. Obviously, something is missing on my Windows 7 computer. Any ideas? I will need to be sure that all my users can use this wonderful feature.

Good Morning, i will check this for you. I believe this might be because of some .NET framework dlls are missing in your Windows 7 machine. Windows 7 is not supported anymore by Microsoft and .NET 4.6 is the current default. However i will check this for you.

Thanks for getting back! The Windows 7 machine has .NET 1.1 and 4.7.2. Should I uninstall and re-install these?

have released an update removing the JSon bindings. please try to download the vba_tools.dll and the bin folder. please let me know if this has worked

The Windows 10 computer that works was using Windows Defender for the firewall. I changed the Windows 7 firewall to Windows Defender and get the same result you were getting.

Hi Jim, I have made some changes in the config file. download the latest vba_tools.dll and see if it works, if not try installing the .net framework 4.5 and see if that fixes the issue. ( you might have to uninstall 4.7.2 and then install it again after installing 4.5)

Krish, I followed your instructions and I still get the same error related to the Newtonsoft.Json.dll file. If my users have this much trouble, I will be in trouble. If there is not a fix for Windows 7, I need to move on. Probably half of my users are still on that platform. Thanks for trying. Jim

Hi Jim, i installed .NET 4.7.2 and did not have any issue like you. After some research i found, sometimes DLLs from online are being blocked from loading dynamically.

Please right click on the Newtonsoft.Json.dll and click properties and click "unbock" to allow this dll to be loaded. please let me know how this went. I also made some config changes to the vba_tools.dll. Please also get the new dll from the sample folder. thank you for your cooperation.

I unblocked all of the DLLs. Still get the error. Does it matter that the Opens With shows an unknown program?

I have one issue. When checking for dependencies for VBA_Tools.dll, the file CCMSWrapper is reported as missing. Any wisdom on this?
