APM Planner Setup Wizard ended prematurely #778

First, I do not know if the Mission Planner 64-1.2.13 is the same as Mission
Planner 1.2.13.zip. The instructions say to download and install the mission
planner but the software installation fails, giving me the [APM Planner Setup
Wizard Ended Prematurely] error. I do not know if I am being redundant and
trying to install a program that I already have, as my mission Planning GUI
opens on my computer screen.

While the above confusion could be just noise, Let me explain the real kicker.
With my ArduPilot 2. board connected to my USB port, the software can not
communicate, i.e. I did not install any drivers for my Ardu board, dating back
to that error message.

So . . . would anyone please be so kind as to direct me in the process of
getting my drivers installed and the Ardupilot detected?

Many thanks - Baran

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

Oops - additional data. I am operating Windows 7 with a 64-bit OS and a CORE
i3 processor. The error I get seems to be related to Windows XP and missing
files (dxwebsetup.exe and dotnetfx35setup.exe) both of which I also installed -
to no avail.

OK - my expected output is to have the Ardupilot board detected by my Windows 7
computer. I can not find the drivers separate and the APM Planner Setup Wizard
ends prematurely, ostensibly before the drivers are installed.

Can anyone answer my first question? Is there a difference between the 1.2.13
zip file and the msi files offered on the Wiki? Until I know if they are the
same or redundant, I can not proceed anywhere.

For redundancy, I am trying to install the mission planner software (which I
may have already done - incorrectly, I am guessing). I can see the GUI but I
can not communicate with my Ardupilot board. Where can I find just the drivers?

Thanks - Baran

the msi and the zip are the same thing. the msi just tries to install a
driver... the zip does not.

look in your windows device manager. if this an apm 2 then the driver is in the
mission planner directory, in the Drivers folder.
