What's the name of your proposed event?

Byteconf GraphQL

What would the event cover?

Do you have any speakers you'd like to see at the conference?

@jlengstorf from Gatsby.js @peggyrayzis from Apollo

Anything else you want us to know about your idea?

Not that I can think of at this time but happy to help organize if it is chosen.

Other smart people who could add a lot of valuable insight:

bdougie commented 6 years ago

my expertise is talking about our 3rd party usage of our public GraphQL API, but also happy to reach out to others at GitHub if you would like a talk on how we leverage/build GraphQL internally.

kristianfreeman commented 6 years ago

Very confident this is going to happen next year πŸ‘

kristianfreeman commented 5 years ago

Hi all! I'm back in Byteconf planning mode, and I'm starting to plan this as something we're going to do by the end of the year. More soon, will update this thread!

cc @jasonbahl

jasonbahl commented 5 years ago

@jlengstorf i would love to! Sadly (not too sad) I can’t make it happen as I’ll be out of town on a family cruise πŸ›³

kristianfreeman commented 5 years ago

Hey @jsjoeio, @jlengstorf, @jasonbahl - mentioned this in that above comment, but I am actively looking for speakers! Particularly interested in bringing a group of diverse folks onto the schedule, and even better if they're new-ish to speaking and want to get some experience! Any suggestions around that? Appreciate the support and understand that it's a big ask, so no worries if you don't get the chance to respond ❀️

jlengstorf commented 5 years ago

@signalnerve I have no idea what her schedule looks like, but @eveporcello would be incredible for this. I've also shared this with a speaker Slack I'm in to see if anyone is interested/available.

jasonbahl commented 5 years ago

Here are some folks doing some sweet stuff with WPGraphQL that might be good candidates to speak if they're interested and available:

@chriszarate, @epeli, @kidunot89, @kellenmace, @ginatrapani, @hsimah, @let00, @justinwhall, @henrikwirth, @m-muhsin, @alexadark, @JeffMatson, @scottopolis

horacioh commented 5 years ago

can I apply? I've being playing with WPGraphQL and I can prepare a presentation :)

I have some recordings on me working with WordPress, Gatsby and WPGraphQL in Spanish here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_Q4x-stM4VLJMNyoGcqOgm77rT4QEWy8

I'm more than happy to present this in english too

henrikwirth commented 5 years ago

Thanks @jasonbahl In general I would be happy to contribute. Depending on the time I might be able to prepare a presentation. September could be tight though.

eveporcello commented 5 years ago

Thank you so much, @jlengstorf! @signalnerve was kind enough to speak to me about this already, but I'm a little too busy in September to make it happen. Would love to be part of the next one though! Thanks again!

hsimah commented 5 years ago

I'd love to get involved - but company policy prohibits me doing public speaking events for the 6 months of employment. Maybe next year :)

jsjoeio commented 5 years ago

@signalnerve Looks like a lot of awesome people have been mentioned already, which is great πŸ˜„

I found this article, which might be of interest, Kristian. Here's the author: @mesirii

Might be worth reaching out to get that list he generated.
