Rooted phone - No internet access

I have download and installed PowerTunnel Android from this link, and disable all plugin. However once the PowerTunnel started, the internet become unavailable, I test it with curl:

Is that because my phone was rooted? Or using a custom rom? Or anything else? I tested it on another phone on the same network, and it works within the internet access
