Have you paired your phone with the chrome extension on your work laptop as well?

Yes. Just tested Facebook, and that works, but Google does not
Also, the extension still shows Facebook as 'not secured' despite that not being true.
I think its only Google that didn't work...
But it is true that the extension still shows 'NOT SECURED' on all accounts even though they are.
The secure/not secure feature is not yet complete on android, we'll let you know when it's ready.
As for logging into Google, have you tried restarting Chrome after installing the extension?
