pin period to top of menu + readme fixes #49

Love your work!! This is mostly a quick fix for my buddy, feel free to use or to not.

Hey, thanks for the contribution! This is actually how it worked initially but it turned out that it really wasn't great when playing on smaller screens (phones, tablets and even some smaller laptops). So I probably won't merge this as is but I'll see if I can make it work like that on larger screens :+1:
