The UIM uses the terminology "watermark" to describe muted texted used to hint at form input values. However, watermarks connote tinted imagery, not tinted text. Instead, we should adopt the term "placeholder" as that accurately reflects the intention and maps to the HTML5 spec on the placeholder attribute.
