"Insert New Item" in list breaks at the wrong location

Steps to reproduce

• Insert a bulleted list. This will add one item placeholder ("Item").
• Hit ⌥↩︎ to insert another item

Observed

The last character of the first item is moved to the newly inserted item:

Expected

The newly inserted item should not break off the last character.
