If you add documentation on how to control the box, I am interested in creating 
an XBMC plugin for it. I figure it would be faster to process the delivered 
video frames instead of capturing the whole screen.

Instead of controlling the box directly it would be better if ambiled had a 
simple plugin architecture where XMBC could serve as a data source. This would 
prevent any need for users to configure which item is controlling the hardware.

It turns out the capture process isn't that complicated, adding a plugin 
architecture to it wouldn't be that bad. That said, I haven't seen the 
developers here at all since they posted this :(

Indeed, the official software has been abandoned, in favor for AmbiBox. 
However, they need to provide full documentation on setting that up.
