I just tried to upgrade to the most recent autoscaler version (which includes support for the renaming of hetzner's cx11 machine).
However somehow the nodes won't connect to the cluster, and on investigation it shows that the reason is that the network interface eth0 is somehow first there, then disconnected and then again back on those nodes.
This instable nature of eth0 I witness now the first time, but it might be that it it is totally unrelated to the autoscaler and just an issue with hetzner itself which recently appeared.
Still the file which fails is /etc/cloud/rename_interface.sh.
Either it won't find the eth0_connection variable (empty string if it just disconnected), which leads t unkown conncection '' error one line further down
Or we got the correct name, the next line may still fail with Error: Failed to modify connection 'eth0': Timeout was reached
These failures can be investigated by running systemctl status cloud-final after ssh into the respective machine.
Interestingly when looking at systemctl, also the NetworkManager-wait-online.service failed - without any useful details, but maybe this is related.
If anyone knows some help, that is highly appreciated.

I just tried to upgrade to the most recent autoscaler version (which includes support for the renaming of hetzner's cx11 machine).
However somehow the nodes won't connect to the cluster, and on investigation it shows that the reason is that the network interface eth0 is somehow first there, then disconnected and then again back on those nodes.
This instable nature of eth0 I witness now the first time, but it might be that it it is totally unrelated to the autoscaler and just an issue with hetzner itself which recently appeared.
Still the file which fails is
