Improve field $ref merge logic #129

What this PR does / why we need it:

Existing field ref merge logic left a lot of validations out. This change improves the logic so that we ensure that we retain every single field-level override when resolving a ref.

Also improves the schema patches for all int-or-string types and unsupported formats
