Describe the issue
Hi everyone,
I want to self-nominate for the 2024 Kubernetes Steering Committee Election.
Back in 2019, I got involved with the Kubernetes community on my own time to give back to a project that I was using to build an internal platform at my day job. Since then, I have been involved in multiple areas of the project.
Right now, I am serving as a chair for SIG Contributor Experience where I aim to bridge the needs of our large and varied contributor base with programs that will improve their experience of contributing to Kubernetes. I maintain the Kubernetes GitHub organizations as a GitHub Admin.
I have been serving the Kubernetes Releases since joining the 1.17 Enhancements team. It has been an exciting journey with more than 9 releases since then, with lots of learning. I was the Release Lead for Kubernetes 1.21, the Enhancements Team Lead for Kubernetes 1.19, the Branch Manager for 1.24, and the Emeritus Adviser for 1.26.
Along the way, I was elected to the Kubernetes Code of Conduct Committee, shipped a feature improving the authorization configuration for kube-apiserver, contributed to the Kubernetes Python client, helping with bug triage, maintenance of the repository and releasing client versions, and co-led multiple Kubernetes New Contributor Workshops in the APAC region, helping new contributors in bootstrapping their journey into the ecosystem. In the groups I was part of, I made the meetings/processes more sustainable for geographically diverse contributors. Over time I have mentored several contributors to grow in the project. Outside of Kubernetes, I am involved with nurturing local community groups and have been instrumental in organizing conferences like PyCon India.
In the past 2 years, I have served on the Kubernetes Steering Committee with a core belief in Servant Leadership. My goal has been to ensure the well-being, growth and sustainability of the Kubernetes community. I am seeking a second term to continue serving the community with the same spirit and would be delighted if given the opportunity to do so.
Best, Nabarun
