Istio is a project that creates and manages a microservice mesh. THis means a lot of things. Like service discovery, encryption, metrics, monitoring, and more.
I think going forward this will be more and more important. We should start talking about this. I dont think we can do one blog that will talk about it all and Istio is still fairly new and evolving. This means things will change over time. I am imagining an ongoing series here.
We might start out with something simple just trying to explain/describe this in our own words and then provide some use cases for it. Then we might want to include an example on how to set it up and run it or it can be in an additional post?
How to socialize this:
Have Istio push this blog to their network
I feel at this stage they are trying to get as many people to talk about this. I think we can figure out who the maintainers are and send a tweet to them about this post.
It also seems like Istio is fairly well structured with a real website and not just a github repo. I think this means there is a bigger effort going on here? Who are those players? How can we reach them?
Kubernetes
We need to make friends with the kubernetes social media people. It seems like they will help us retweet this and a lot of our other blogs.
Docker?
Show this working on Docker cloud? Maybe a followup post with just that twist?

Will they include this in their news letter?
