Your project ideas are pretty cool. Have you thought about participating at the HackadayPrize Robotics Challenge. Xilinx is ROSCon 2018 sponsor. Probably they would be interested in your project as well.

Is this project still open? I'm very interested in this (also concenrning space robotics) but have no experience with FPGAs so this project would be a great solution for starting to work with FPGAs :)
