2 years ago @rschuler1964 Most of the messages above are hoops-specific messages, potentially associated with a lot of Insteon traffic. Can you help me understand if this has any impact on controlling devices and/or status?

2 years ago Hi, Most of the time, the Insteon scenes turn on/off correctly with Alexa. However, Alexa says can’t reach the Insteon hub and something about a “null”. Probably, 25% of the time, Alexa says the correct response.

2 years ago We just got home and asked Alexa to turn on Inside Lights and Alexa said "Inside lights aren't responding, please check the network connection and power supply". This is very frustrating, but they finally came on. Here is the info in the log file...

2 years ago I was having something similar in Homebridge. There have been a couple of updates recently, so I am not sure exactly when it started, but I was getting errors stating "unable to get power state" of the various devices. The command shows it was received by Homebridge, but if the command executed successfully was maybe 50% of the time. Because it could not get the power status, it seemed to assume the current power state was valid, when it was not. I manually downgraded to 0.4.22 which is several versions back. No issues now.

2 years ago BEFORE connecting your Hoobs to Alexa, you will need to go in and disable the insteon skill then manually delete all the insteon devices & scenes. This will help resolve future problems. If you followed this step from discord you would not have these issues

2 years ago I had already deleted (weeks ago) the Insteon Skill from Alexa. However, tonight I removed the Alexa plugin from Hoobs, deleted all the Hoobs Insteon Devices from the Alexa skill, rediscovered them and still have the same problem.

2 years ago Even though the Alexa skill was deleted you still need to manually go through and delete all the devices and scenes in the Alexa app. The only way to delete them is one by one (according to the Amazon Alexa support team) the null is when Alexa can not reach the device you are trying to control.

2 years ago That’s exactly what I did. I went into Alexa on my laptop and manually deleted each Hoobs created Insteon devices and scenes (approximately 70-80). The ones that were previously there with the Insteon Alexa skill were deleted over a month ago. Then I rediscovered all the Insteon Hoobs created devices and scenes. Still the same problem.

And the Alexa plugin error is it reporting that it didn't get a response from the Insteon plugin within 7 seconds. Which is a similar error to this being reported by the HAP-NodeJS framework
